Rural Management

India, being an agricultural nation most of the population live in rural areas. Rural development has a significant impact on the economic growth of the country. They look at ways and methods of increasing profitability and sustainability of organizations that are involved in rural management. ________________________________________ Eligibility Minimum qualification to take a course in rural management is Bachelor’s degree in any stream or its equivalent qualification with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate from a recognised institute. Admission is made through entrance tests conducted by the institute concerned, which follows group discussion and personal interview. There are Bachelor courses as well as Post graduate courses in rural management. Bachelor course is of 3 years duration and Post graduate course of 2 years duration. A course in rural management includes training in agri-business, rural marketing, NGO management, micro finance, corporate social responsibility management and more. The objective of the course is to train professional managers to help create new organisations of rural people and manage them, and providing training and support to practicing managers in rural sector. Personnel attributes The essential skill set that one should possess is a willingness to work in rural areas. An aspirant for this field should possess good communication skills, knowledge of local languages, ability to handle masses, analytical reasoning, leadership skills, problem solving skill, ability for working with clients with diverse interests, interest in farming, planning etc.
