Sledge Hockey
Sledge hockey is the ice hockey for people with physical disabilities on the lower body. This sport started during the ‘60s in a rehabilitation center at Stockholm, Sweden. This sport has become a major attraction and one of the most sought after sports during Paralympic Games. The rules of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) is still followed on this sport but with little adjustments, mainly on the equipment being used. First is the double-blade sledges. They are specially designed to allow the puck to pass beneath. Second is the two sticks used by players, the spike-end for pushing and the blade-end for shooting.
